Education
Masters: August. 2024 - May. 2027, College of Engineering, CMU-Africa ……..Kigali, Rwanda
Bachelors: Sep. 2019 - Feb. 2023, Dept. of CS, Makerere University,……..Kampala, Uganda
Research Interest
My focus lies in leveraging machine learning to optimize processes, improve system efficiency, and solve complex real-world problems. With a strong foundation in computer science and advanced AI techniques, I enjoy exploring how intelligent systems can transform industries from data systems and optimization tasks to healthcare and scientific computing.
Internships
- Summer 2025: Research Intern - Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, Germany
- During the following summer, I extended my previous research by building a longitudinal benchmark for learned index structures. This benchmark allowed for systematic evaluation over time, revealing substantial weaknesses in fundamental operations of these indexes, including insertion, deletion, and query performance under varied workloads.
- The project strengthened my ability to translate theoretical insights into empirical evaluation and contributed to a deeper understanding of the practical challenges in applying machine learning to data systems.
- Skills and technologies used: C++, Python, data analysis, academic literature review, experimental design, and benchmarking frameworks.
- Summer 2024: Research Intern - Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, Germany
- During this internship, I gained hands-on experience in the entire research process, from understanding existing work to experimental validation.
- I mainly worked on reproducing key experiments from prior work to validate findings.
- Reading and synthesizing research papers in the field of learned systems.
- Formulating research questions and testing them through rigorous experimentation.
- Skills and technologies used: Python, data analysis, C++, Github, academic literature review, experimental design, and benchmarking frameworks.
- Summer 2023: Openlab summer Intern- CERN Geneva, Switzerland
- As part of this project, I conducted a accessibility study on CERN’s Single Sign-On (SSO) system, used by thousands of users daily to access internal services.
- Implementing targeted improvements to remove accessibility blockages, ensuring the login process met usability standards for all users.
- Skills and technologies used: Python, React, Spring, GitLab, human-centered design, accessibility testing, assistive technologies.
